  • Educational Qualification: Candidates need to be graduates from a government recognized university, an institute of college. It is preferred if candidates have an NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate as these will be considered during the interview or personality test round. However, this is not a compulsory qualification. Only three attempts are allowed.
  • Experience: Candidates should have experience of four years of regular service as on January 1, 2018, in the Sub Inspector (GD) / Inspector (GD) rank. This shall include a basic training period. It is also desirable that the candidate has a clean service record till the appointment offer date.
  • Age limit: Candidates should be less than 35 years as on August 1, 2018, that is, they must have been born later than August 2, 1983. Age rule relaxation will be as per government rules.
  • Selection Process: Candidates will have to pass a written test, followed by a physical and medical standard test as well as a personality test.

Selection Process:
The category-wise minimum level of suitability in interviews, irrespective of whether the selection is made only by interview or by Recruitment Test followed by an interview, will be UR-50 marks, OBC-45 marks, SC/ST/PH-40 marks, out of the total marks of an interview being 100.
In cases where the selection is made by Recruitment Test (RT) followed by the interview, the candidate will have to achieve a minimum level of suitability in their respective category at both stages i.e. ‘Recruitment Test’ as well as ‘Interview’. The minimum level of suitability in the case of RT shall be decided by the Commission on the case to case basis.
Application Fee: Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25/- (Rupees Twenty five) only either by remitting the money in any branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of the SBI or by using visa/master credit/debit card. No fee for SC/ST/PH/Women candidates of any community. No "fee exemption" is available to OBC male candidates and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee. Applications without the prescribed fee would not be considered and summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection would be entertained. (d) Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstance nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
How to Apply: Candidates must apply online through the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in. Applications received through any other mode would not be accepted and summarily rejected. Candidates must upload documents pertaining to educational qualifications and experience (preferably in the prescribed format), if any, as claimed in the online application, in a single pdf file in such a way that the file size does not exceed 2 MB and is legible when a printout is taken. For that, the applicant may scan the experience certificate in 200 dpi grey scale. Documents like Pay Slip, Resume, Appointment Letter, Relieving Letter, Unsigned Experience Certificate etc. must not be uploaded in the Document Upload Module.

For Indian Military Academy/Officers Training Academy :- Candidates should have passed Graduation Degree in any stream from a recognised university.

For Indian Naval Academy :-Candidates should have passed Graduation Degree in Engineering from a recognised university.
For Air Force Academy :-Candidates should have passed Graduation Degree in any stream with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level OR Graduation Degree in Engineering from a recognised university.

Age Limit For UPSC Recruitment 2017-2018 :
For Indian Military Academy :-Unmarried male aspirants, who are not born before 2nd January, 1995 and after 1st January, 2000, are permitted to apply.
  • For Indian Naval Academy :- 

Unmarried male aspirants, who are not born before 2nd January, 1995 and after 1st January, 2000, are permitted to apply.
  • For Air Force Academy :- 

Age between 20 to 24 years as on 01-01-2019. It means candidates who are born not before 2nd January, 1995 and after 1st January, 1999 are eligible. If you have a valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India), then you are eligible to apply till 26 years of the age.
  • For Officers Training Academy (SSC Course for Men) :- Married or unmarried candidates, who are born not before 2nd January, 1994 and after 1st January, 2000, are permitted to apply.
  • For Officers Training Academy (SSC Women Non-technical) :- Candidates should be born not before 2nd January, 1994 and after 1st January, 2000 to become eligible under this category.
